The SECUSASTRIKE Lockset Reinforcement System (LRS) includes the following items: (2) steel strike sleeves with welded metal flange, (2) stainless steel adjustable strike plates and (8) 3" steel screws
Tools you will need for the installation: Drill (cordless or corded), hammer, sharp chisel, utility knife, 1"paddle bit, #2 phillips bit, 7/64ths drill bit, sharpie/or pencil.
1. Remove existing strike plate for the deadbolt, lockset and (4) 3/4" screws which hold them in.
2. Make a small mark on the trim where the shaft of the deadbolt lines up with the door jamb making sure that the hole that you are about to drill lines up with the deadbolt shaft.
3. Use the 1" paddle bit to measure the depth of the strike sleeve and make a mark on the paddle bit for the depth to bore into the door jamb.
4. Starting with the deadbolt hole first, drill to the depth marked on the bit making sure the drill is at a 90 degree angle.
5. Drill the hole in and out a few times so the strike sleeve slides easily in.
6. Slide the strike sleeve all the way in and use the adjustable plate as a pattern for chiseling out the door jamb
7. Use a sharp utility knife and scribe your pencil mark.
8. With the beveled edge of your chisel against the door frame, chisel out the area about 1/8th of an inch deep. IMPORTANT-Make sure the flange of the strike sleeve sits flat against the door jamb. Take your time with this as the area needs to be evenly chiseled.
9. Slide the strike sleeve in the hole and pre-drill the (2) round holes with a 7/64th drill bit as deep as you can get it. IMPORTANT-At this point close the door and test that the deadbolt inserts into the strike sleeve easily without brushing it at all. If not, make the necessary adjustments now.
10. Install (2) 3" screws in the pre-drilled holes.IMPORTANT-Make sure the screws are taught against the flange and be careful not to warp the flange by screwing in the screw too far.
11. Place the adjustable strike plate over the strike sleeve flange and pre drill through the (2) oblong holes with a 7/64th drill bit. Install the remaining (2) screws.
  12. Follow above procedures for the lockset.
  13. Test to make sure the door closes tightly against the weather stripping. If not, adjust the adjustable strike plates.
